Quota & Usage

Understand how image conversions are calculated and track your monthly quota.

SmallPict offers generous monthly quotas so you never have to worry about surprise overages. Understanding how your quota is calculated ensures you can make the most out of your plan.

How Quota is Calculated

Your quota is based on successful image conversions.

When you upload an image to WordPress, WordPress automatically generates several different sizes (thumbnails, medium, large, etc.) depending on your theme.

Each resized variation that is successfully optimized by SmallPict counts as 1 conversion.

For example:

  1. You upload a new image (photo.jpg).
  2. WordPress generates 3 sizes: Thumbnail, Medium, and Large.
  3. SmallPict optimizes the original and the 3 variations.
  4. Total Usage: 4 conversions deducted from your quota.

[!NOTE] If an image fails to convert, or if the optimized version is larger than the original (which can occasionally happen with already highly-compressed images), you are not charged for that conversion.

Tracking Your Usage

You can easily monitor your usage directly from your WordPress dashboard:

  1. Navigate to SmallPict > Dashboard.
  2. Look at the Monthly Quota section.
  3. You will see a progress bar indicating how many conversions you have used this month, and how many are remaining.

The quota automatically resets on the 1st day of every calendar month.

Free Tier vs Premium Plans

Free Tier

The free tier includes a substantial monthly allowance perfect for personal blogs and small websites. You have full access to WebP conversion and Smart Lossy compression.

Premium Plans

If you run a media-heavy site, an e-commerce store, or manage an agency, our Premium plans offer:

  • Higher monthly quotas or unlimited conversions.
  • Access to AVIF for maximum compression.
  • High-Priority Queue processing so your images optimize instantly even during peak global traffic.

If you approach your quota limit, the plugin will notify you. You can upgrade your plan at any time through your SmallPict account portal.
