SmallPict API/SDK: BYOK vs. Managed CDN, Which Should You Choose?
Ignite and Velocity plans default to Bring-Your-Own-CDN, while Momentum includes a fully managed CDN. Here's how to decide which model fits your project.
When you're building with SmallPict's API/SDK, one of the first decisions you'll make is how images get delivered to your users: through your own CDN account, or through ours.
Bring Your Own CDN (BYOK) — the default for Ignite and Velocity — means you connect your existing Cloudflare or AWS CloudFront account, and SmallPict handles compression and optimization while your own infrastructure handles delivery. This is the right choice if you already have CDN infrastructure, want full control over caching rules and custom domains, or need to keep bandwidth costs on your own cloud bill.
Fully Managed CDN — included with Momentum — means SmallPict provisions, configures, and monitors CDN delivery for you through our own Cloudflare infrastructure. This is the right choice if you'd rather not manage another piece of infrastructure and want image delivery to just work, with generous bandwidth included in your plan.
Not sure which fits your project? Our API/SDK documentation walks through setup for both models, or reach out and we'll help you decide.
